Whilst interning at Gunter Piekarski I assisted with identity design for Extra Soul Perception, a music collaboration between artists from the UK, Kenya and Uganda to create ‘New Tangents in Soul Music’.
Conceptually the idea of a tangent symbolized this collaborative meeting of continents. The logo mark reduces the tangent concept down to its purest form of representation. The logotype provides contemporary reference to the cover typography of the project’s namesake ( a Monk Higgins 1968 soul album).
Working under the creative direction of GP I helped with both secondary and primary research. I then assisted in developing the brand’s assets including logo, typography, animation styles and image treatments.
